     WAYZATA MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY LETTERING REQUIREMENTS

To earn a Varsity Letter you need to:

A. Earn 75 points and,

B. Finish at least six races and,

C. Finish season with good standing.

 

1. Meet Points (You may only use your ten best scores):

          A. If there is only one race at the meet (e.g.- Alumni Meet)

                7 pts. top 1/7th     6 pts. top 2/7th     5 pts. top 3/7th     4 pts. top 4/7th

                3 pts. top 5/7th     2 pts. top 6/7th     1 pt. top 90%

          B. If there  are 2 races at the meet (e.g.- CLC Quad Meet)

            Varsity Race:

                7 pts. top 1/3rd     6 pts. top 2/3rd

            JV Race:

                5 pts. top 1/5th     4 pts. top 2/5th     3 pts. top 3/5th     2 pts. top 4/5th

                1 pt. top 90%

          C. If there  three races at the meet (e.g.- St. Cloud Invite)

            Varsity Race:  7 pts. top 1/3rd     6 pts. top 2/3rd     5 pts. top 90%

            JV Race:  5 pts. top 1/3rd     4 pts. top 2/3rd     3 pts. top 90% 

            10th, 9th, or MS Race:  3 pts. top 1/3rd     2 pts. top 2/3rd     1pt. top 90%

2. Star Points: Each is worth one point:

          A. Run in a Meet (maximum of 10 pts. in a season)

          B. Run ten days in a row (maximum of 5 pts. in a season)

          C. Work at the Joe Ross Invite

3. Experience Points:

          A.  4th Year of Cross Country (9-12) -- 40 points

          B.  3rd Year of Cross Country (9-12) -- 30 points

          C.  2nd Year of Cross Country (9-12) -- 20 points

          D.  Freshman who ran in 8th grade -- 10 points

3. Summer Mileage Points:

For every 20 miles you ran over between Memorial Day and the first day of practice you receive one point. A contemporaneous record of your summer miles must be kept and one of your parents will sign off on it simply turning in a total number of miles you ran will not be sufficient. The  record must be turned in by the second week of practice to Coach Jahn.
